Types of Coastline

Prime objective of this lecture is to present on Types of Coastline. Coasts are the dynamic junction of water, air, and land. Winds and waves, tides and currents, migrating sand dunes and mud flats, a variety of plant and animal life — all combine to form our ever-changing coasts. There are various types of Coastline: they are: Rocky Shores; Sandy Beaches; Coastal Wetlands and Coral Reefs. The “type” of beach also plays a role in determining if and how the shoreline will be affected by erosion, and North Carolina has a variety of different coastal areas.
